Compost Stormwater Best Management Practices - Promoting Them to the
Compost Industry

-Please feel free to circulate-

US EPA Region 5 invites you to participate in a webinar on the
innovative aspects of using compost as a stormwater best management
practice (BMP) on March 10, 2009 from 11:00 - 12:30 PM Central.
Registration will be limited.

This webinar is focused on how composters have entered the market for
stormwater compost. We are looking forward to a collaborative
discussion with four distinguished speakers, see bios below. Webinar
attendees will learn about the US Composting Council's Seal of
Testing Assurance Program and details on compost specifications, as
well as hear from a composter that is making compost to be applied as
a stormwater BMP and compost BMP users that purchase compost and used
the BMPs. The webinar will also feature a short introduction to
compost and the compost-based stormwater BMPs, as well as
opportunities for questions.

This webinar is one of a series of webinars that the EPA Region 5 is
hosting to support the use of these BMPs, and thus increase the
recycling of organic waste materials. The next webinar, tentatively
scheduled for May, will provide information about how the erosion
control and landscaping industries have used the compost BMPs to
improve stormwater management.

You can view the compost BMPs at
http://cfpub.epa.gov/npdes/stormwater/menuofbmps/index.cfm and enter
'compost' into the 'search BMPs' line. For additional information on
the BMPs visit:
