Dear Composting Community:

Based on more than a few conversations I've had with people this
month, I wanted to remind folks that this year's USCC Annual
Conference starts one day earlier than previous years:

The USCC Board Meeting is on Friday, February 8th.

The full and half-day workshops are on Saturday, February 9th.

The Plenary session and the four tracks of technical sessions are on
Sunday and Monday, February 10th and 11th.

The "Live" equipment demonstrations and tour are on Tuesday February
12th.

Other fun facts about this year's conference:

• You can fly into either the Oakland or the San Francisco airports
- both are served by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) which has a stop
only one block from the Conference Hotel. Other transit options
include "Super Shuttle" http://www.supershuttle.com/default.aspx?
content=HowItWorks (should be about $26 to the Marriott from the
Oakland Airport, $39 from SFO, but each additional person is only $9
- so it gets cheaper the more you have in your party).

• The award winning wineries of Napa and Sonoma counties are less
than an hour to the north of the Conference hotel.

• Oakland's fascinating historic Chinatown is just a block to the
south of the Conference hotel.

• All of the food scraps generated by the hotel are collected for
composting (all the time, not just during the conference).

Yes, the Conference hotel is sold out, but there are overflow options
available at the Waterfront Inn and Jack London Inn.

I look forward to seeing everyone in Oakland!

Matthew Cotton, President
USCC Board of Directors
