[USCC] watermelon waste?

Hi Bev,

We've found that melon is a fantastic bacterial food that our worms really
love when we feed the vermicomposter. Just watch your moisture content as
they don't call it watermelon for no reason, and watch temps if you are
feeding in high heat as melon really gets things cooking fast...

Subject: [USCC] watermelon waste?

Hello all,
There is a farmer in our area who grows watermelons and has lots of
unsaleable "waste" fruit. Do watermelons make an easy or difficult
feedstock? I'd be looking at fetching this stuff and hauling it home
for my 4'x4' bins. Should I be getting sawdust to boost the carbon?
Will it be too wet? Just trying to avoid a potential smelly mess this
summer...
Thanks in advance...

Bev
