Three technologies to consider with a food waste-to-compost
program:
EM Bokashi is a basic microbial tool for stabilizing
and bioprocessing of highly putrescent food wastes. It
fits into food waste collection and handling prior to
integration of this material into a compost stream,
either on-site or off-site.
The second technology is a rotary drum in-vessel turner.
It would be ideal for quick integration of food wastes
with carbon biomass, followed by turning and aeration
for several days. But you still need a site and
equipment for compost windrows after the pre-digested
material comes out of the rotary drum.
The third technology is a flow-thru vermi compost system.
The end product could be used as an on-site soil amendment
for maintaining the landscape grounds and athletic fields,
or sold as a value-added soil amdnement.
