[USCC] animal shelter wants to compost pet waste

A local animal shelter would like to compost the pet waste being generated versus it going to the landfill.  Are any animal shelters in the USA doing this? I have read about possible diseases from the waste and for home use pet waste composting. But I need input on how to do it on a grander scale.
