We have had some significant success in SE Asia and now Africa in
establishing buying stations for larvae that have been raised on human manure. This
goes along very well with our program to purchase the source separated organics
of our client cities. Rather than charge a tipping fee or a MSW collection
fee, we are purchasing the organic matter that constitutes the majority of the
municipal solid waste. While this is being done only in a few cities
currently it has demonstrated the effectiveness of the model, especially for
developing countries.

By using a specially designed toilet for human sanitation in rural and urban
areas we can facilitate the processing of human manure by Hermetia illucens
(Black Soldier Fly larvae). In SE Asia the market for the fresh larvae is
robust enough in our test areas to stimulate the implementation of the toilets
on a rather large scale. This is having a positive effect on the waste
disposal issues and benefiting the economics of those families participating in the
demonstration.

The most advanced demonstrations are being conducted by Dr. Paul Olivier in
Vietnam.
