 Greetings,

We have one group of students looking to start a biodiesel production
operation here on campus and one of the waste products is the glycerin.
They are proposing to add it to the large pile of plant/leaf debris we
compost on site at about 400 tons per year. They want to make the
biodiesel using the potassium hydroxide method to eliminate the salts
that are created by the use of sodium hydroxide in the glycerin. I have
found a limited amount of data on the internet that seems to indicate
that the addition of the glycerol is actually a beneficial one for it
makes a hotter pile.

Does anyone have any data or other information to support the addition
of the glycerol to the waste pile or verified resons why it should not
be allowed to be added.
