We are a certified shiitake mushroom farm in Denison, Texas , North of Dallas.
We produce 2 - 3 tons a week of shiitake substrate. This is different from what people think of as mushroom compost because ours contains no manure. It is basically coarse sawdust with a small percentage of grains and the shiitake mycelium . We have test results from the soil lab at Texas A & M that I can email to anyone who is interested.
Strathclyde University in Scotland has done extensive research into the effectiveness of shiitake substrate in remediating soil that has been contaminated by creosote. Paul Stamets, author of Mycelium Running, has demonstrated the effectiveness of shiitake substrate in remediating a number of different toxic substances in soil.
We are looking for someone to buy the substrate on a regular basis and possibly someone to develop a commercial product based on the substrate.
Please contact us by email admin at shiitakes.com

Thanks, Elizabeth McCarthy,
