As communications Chair, I feel I need to respond to Mr. Sullivan’s comments. First, there have been NO discussions about changing the list serve to a member-paid list serve. Further there are NO plans in the foreseeable future of doing so.Second, I expect the list serve to be managed very similarly to whenJim was doing the management, with only those changes that are directed by the USCC Board, Communications Committee or Executive Director. This is the way it has always been. I find Mr. Sullivan’s comment about Mr. Cotton distressing. In all the years that I have been involved with the USCC, some 12+ years, no one person has made unilateral decision on the list serve or web site. One further note, over the next few months, the USCC will be redesigning its web site. Since its inception I have been the manager of the web site. With the redesign, I expect that the web site will be managed by a paid USCC staff person. I look forward to the day when I will no longer have to sta

ate or get up early to get information up on the web in a timely manner because I simply cannot do it during the daytime hours. As a growing organization, I believe that it is important to have paid professional staff manage these two important resources. Volunteers such as Jim and myself do well enough to get by, but to go beyond that and use these tools to their maximum capability in growing the compost industry is pretty darn hard. Jim has a business to run and I have two other jobs to attend to. Ginny BlackCommunications Committee, Chair
