Hello Compost World,

Kansas has regulations in place that requires permits for all composting
facilities larger than 1/2 acre in size. As part of the permitting
process, we require a closure cost estimate to determine the liability in
the event the facility closes unexpectedly. Private facilities have to
provide financial assurance for the cost of closure so the state would have
enough money to close the facility without costs to the citizens at large.
We give the facilities two options for determining the cost, either hauling
all material to the nearest landfill or paying a third party to finish the
composting process. My question to the group is this, does anybody have
approximate costs for finishing compost that is already on the pad. This
would include turning and possibly screening to create a saleable product.

Thanks for any help.
