[USCC] Fly maggots

I'm wondering if the 'info chemical' the larvae emit also drives away
compost worms.  I've seen reductions in the number of compost worms in bins
when larvae are numerous.  Some say it's because the larvae eat all the food
but I believe there's more to it.  The worms are not just driven lower in
the bin, they're gone.

The larvae of the black soldier fly can effect a 95% reduction in the weight
and volume of almost any type of putrescent waste within a matter of just a
few hours. These larvae emit an info-chemical that drives away houseflies
and other filth-bearing flies. This is not an enemy that needs to be killed,
but a friend who can truly recycle complex organic nutrients. Soldier fly
larvae are 42% protein and 34% fat - a valuable bundle of nutrients that
make an excellent fish or chicken food.

Hi - can you imagine that they are trapped in that pile and that their
body's matter is going to contribute to your pile? Can they be turned into
the hot decomposing part of your pile? One composter tells the story of how
his rotting pile of fish matter was buzzing with flies. He saw a problem as
a resource.    He covered the pile so the flies would be trapped and
composted.
