Our composting facility was handling about 40 tons of coffee grounds each
week from a company who researched coffee blends for a major ground coffee
manufacturer. We simply mixed it into windrows of ground yard debris. The
mixture could be as concentrated as 50% coffee/50% bulking, but usually was
a 30/70 mix. We never had any odor issues with the coffee.
Watch for some run off if the material is left too long without mixing. And
in the winter the material would arrive FROZEN solid and was a real problem
getting the truck unloaded. In the hot and dry summer it was a great source
of moisture in the composting piles.
Wish we still had it!! Coffee grounds are a great material for a composting
facility.
