The Washington Organic Recycling Council has two great programs coming up that may be of interest to this list.  

 

Agricultural Organics & Disease Suppression

September 12-13, 2007

SEL Conference Center in Pullman, Washington 

 

Featuring Dr. Harry Hoitink, Professor Emeritus, Ohio State University, speaking on disease suppression and plant pathogen control, joined by Dr. Jeffrey LeJeune DMV, discussing the threat that livestock wastes pose to livestock, vegetable crops and the environment, and talk about the benefits of using composted manures as animal bedding. 

 

Additional presentations by WSU researchers on: Sudden Oak Death, Fire Blight, Johne's Disease (MAP) Integrated Program, carcass composting, and processing infectious diseases, pathogens and prions addressing animal, operator and public safety concerns.

 

Second day tours and field demonstrations including carcass composting and Anaerobic Digestion.

 

 

Compost Facility Operator Training

October 22-26, 2007

Puyallup, WA

 

Five full days of training including lectures and presentations, panels, field exercises, demonstrations and tours. Six instructors + other presenters.
