Woods End designed the Greyhound raceway composting process that was quite successful in the 80's
outside of the Bronx, NY- this partly lead the Bronx Frontier Development Corp under the capable
leadership of Detective Jack Flanagan to develop the "Zoo Doo" process with Woods End,
that ultimately spread to San Francisco and other cities in the USA.

There was never any issues with pathogens in the finished product that I recall, and Dr. Droffner carefully
checked it. Anyway, why do some think dogs and cats are somehow so much worse than any other animal,
whether monkey, tiger, elephant or cow (all of which were in the Zoo Doo compost). Further, readers should
ask where are the 9.5-million tons/year of dog poop deposited in USA going anyway - well, a lot of it is
in your lawn sweepings and trimmings that are going to (some) green composters, and no one has noticed an
issue (other than that fresh green compost presently has as much E. coli as does fresh manure compost).

I am surprised you didn't see or hear all the media this past year about turning dog poop into energy via
biogas, which Woods End is working on with Norcal Waste Systems, SF and UC Davis. Our trials show the energy content
of dog waste- on account of the rich fatty diet and parsimonious digestive system- is very high. Humboldt University in Berlin
started a project in 2006 to make biogas out of dog poop.

National Geographic on-line did a story on this (Google: dog poop biogas). Its probably a better approach
than composting is, and acknowledging the concern some have about pet litter compost, safer too in that
another barrier is in between the product and the end-use
