In addition to being concerned about the impact of the formaldehyde
on the finished compost, you might also want to query your biofilter
designers as to the impact of adding additional volatile organics
(formaldehyde, etc.,) to the mix and what, if any, the impact would
be on overall VOC removal efficiency.
I have a client who blends (to be clear, it's primarily blending, not
composting) large quantities of medium density fiberboard (MDF) and
there is definitely off-gassing, even at relatively low temperatures.
