Good Morning Composting World,

We have a large dairy in Kansas (8,000 + cows) that is planning on
partially composting the manure which is screened using a press to
remove
water. This facility is in a dry (less then 18 inches of rainfall per
year) part of Kansas where it is difficult to get good quality sand.
They
have several questions about the temperature and time needed to kill
mastitis as well as other cattle diseases. They also would like to
know
what moisture level would be acceptable for reuse as the bedding
material.
Their plan is to switch from a sand bedding to compost in the next few
months.

Any thoughts that would provide them information would be appreciated.
It
would also be good to provide them contact names of facilities in
other
states to contact for information.
