[USCC] Composting Whole Eggs

Hi - several questions about the proposed composting of whole eggs.
  1. Roughly how many per day/week are we thinking of handling?
  2. Would it not be true that the older the whole egg, the more rotten and foul-smelling? Hence, get them into a composting process earlier rather than later.
  3. My instinct tells me to mix the cracked-open eggs into a batter or a mixture with, say, wood shavings, sawdust, shredded wood or paper and then compost that resulting batter/mixture. I think that would smell less than straight eggs.
  4. Do you have some lead-time to try out composting techniques on a small scale? If I do a trial with 6 dozen eggs per day over several weeks to perfect my technique and odour control before commiting to 10,000 per day, I will be better prepared for problems.
Good luck. The worms will love the calcium as will the soil. Eggs do not belong in landfill.
  Cheers, Mike in Toronto

Good Morning Group,

We have a yard waste composting facility that is proposing to add eggs from
a nearby egg processor to their composting operation. Does anyone have a
good C/N ration and % moisture for eggs. We know that odors from the
sulfur compounds will require control measures that are different than the
usual yard waste and that is covered in their operation plan. What would
be the recommend maximum percentage of the mix to be eggs?

Thanks,
