Does anyone know the difference between Eisena foetida, and Polypheritima
elongata? I have been doing some composting work with an NGO here in India.
They use Polyphertima elongata because they do not need to aerate the medium
after the intial bed setup. Also only one application of manure is required
and after that the composting is done by microbial breakdown and not the
worms themselves. The worms only provide a suitable environment for the
microbes. Furthermore are these so called "deep burrowing earthworms" native
or allowed to be transported to the US for composting?
