[USCC] Immature compost

Am I correct that when I see ammonium N in the first year available N on lab
test results for commercially-composted compost, that I can assume that such
compost is somewhat "green", or immature?
Resultantly, when using such compost as a fertilizer, would one not want to
incorporate such compost within, say, a day of spreading, in order to
minimize the loss of that ammonium N?
This particular compost does NOT contain animal manure. First year
available N is 12lbs per ton, with 4lbs of that being ammonium N.
Thank you.
