[USCC] Vermicompost

Hi - red worms are air breathers, breathing through their skin. As such, they would produce carbon dioxide in respiration.
  . It is assumed they can not live anaerobically.
   Worms produce castings which are not that reactive chemically compared to some of the feedstock in soil which, if decaying anaerobically, would produce methane.

Does vermicompost by deep burrowing earthworms(Pheretima elongata) produce
methane gas? I was told that they don't because they create an aerobic
environment in the soil for microbial decomposition.
