[USCC] composting plywood

I have seen a couple of studies from the University of Georgia that looked
at composting engineered wood (OSB) and another study that evaluated
potential water quality impacts from non-composted engineered wood using it
as a mulch. If I remember correctly, the formaldehyde suppressed microbial
activity and growth, suppressing the composting process and temperature
levels. The study evaluating water quality impacts looked at a variety of
engineered wood products commonly used for building construction. I believe
the water quality impacts were negligible, but you would need to consult the
report or investigators.

  From David Schellinger

I have a compost producer who would like to find out about toxicities in
composts and/or the affect of chemicals in glues from plywood during and
after composting. If only a small amount of untreated plywood was
composted, are the glues expected to be biodegradable or toxic to
microorganisms, and would the end product be safe? I appreciate the
assistance.
