[USCC] Pneumatic delivery of compost and mulch

If you have experience of using compost blowers for delivering/spraying
compost and mulch please can you share it with me?  

I am looking to restore a former tailings pond.  Initially the silt is too
soft to walk on but following applications of organic residuals to build up
organic matter and nitrogen we can establish grass and the soil structure
builds - the former pond then becomes trafficable.  At one particular site I
want to cover the organic residuals with compost to biofilter odor so a
compost blower looks like it might do the job.  If you can tell me the pros
and cons I'd be grateful.

What are the pitfalls in pneumatic compost application?
